Some more positive beta reader feedback on my novel Chasing Money. My good friend Andy, who is also a writer, said the book was tense, captivating and drew him in immediately. 

“The first chapter in the cabin was my favorite,” he said. “It caught me by the throat right away. It reminded me of the immediate tension in the opening scene of the movie Raiders of the Lost Arc when the boulder starts rolling down the tunnel, and they were within an inch of being killed at any moment. By the end of chapter one, I was totally invested in the story and in Marty and Bo’s deep fear and their struggle for survival.”

“The plot was totally plausible. A couple of relatively innocent guys getting pulled into a situation way over their heads and having to work their way out of it. The dialogue was crisp, witty, pithy, edgy, and vulnerable at times.”

He said, “The pacing was great until chapter 13 where the baron’s complex history was described. Then the pace slowed, and it took me out of being in Marty and Bo’s shoes.”

That’s two readers who’ve called out an issue with the chapters on the baron.
